Marines and Sailors, along with members of the other service branches, who are attached to Marine units, are deployed all over the world protecting and preserving our freedom. As a result, many are injured in combat operations and in training accidents, or face life threatening illness. Injury to a service member causes an immediate crisis for his or her entire family; not just emotionally, but also financially. Depending on the type of injury, recovery can take many months, and rehabilitative care can take years, often in hospitals far from loved ones. Airplane tickets, food, lodging, car rental, phone bills and lost wages are some of the things that can create an unexpected financial hardship during what is already a very stressful time.

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) is the voice of the 21st century veteran. It was founded in June 2004 as a non-profit, non-partisan organization with a mission to improve the lives of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families. IAVA addresses the urgent issues facing the 2.2 million service members that have deployed since 2001 such as physical disabilities, mental health, suicide and unemployment by providing assistance, awareness and advocacy to serve those who have served.

We work to preserve the art of acupuncture, classical Chinese medicine and to advance holistic nursing education and services for war vets and military families.
The Jesse Brown VA Medical Center consists of a 200-bed acute care facility and four community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs). Jesse Brown VAMC provides care to approximately 62,000 enrolled veterans who reside in the City of Chicago and Cook County, Illinois, and in four counties in northwestern Indiana.
