: We’re here to support Gold Star family members who have lost a loved one during combat or due to accident or illness during active duty or reserve military service since WWII. Our families come from all over Maine and embrace each other with compassion and understanding. By sharing with each other after the death of their beloved, we make life easier for survivors because we understand exactly how they feel today and how they may feel tomorrow. The Maine Fallen Heroes Foundation is one of the only organizations in the State of Maine that financially supports the families of our fallen military heroes. Since 1775, Marines have selflessly served America, and for nearly 50 years the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation has honored this service by educating their children. The privately-funded, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization provides scholarships for post-high school education to deserving sons and daughters of Marines with particular attention given to children whose parent has been killed or wounded in action. Additionally, the Scholarship Foundation’s Heroes Tribute fund provides up to $30,000 over four years to every child of a Marine, or Navy Corpsman serving with the Marines, who have been killed in combat since September 11, 2001.

Military children move an average of six to nine times during their K-12 school years. Many make multiple moves during high school alone. Academic courses, extracurricular programs, graduation requirements and transfer of records vary greatly from state to state and even from school to school. These frustrations, in addition to giving up friends and associates, cause anxiety in military children. Separation from a deployed parent (or parents) tends to exacerbate an already difficult situation.
The Military Child Education Coalition is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit , worldwide organization that identifies the challenges facing the highly mobile military child; increases awareness of these challenges in military and educational communities; and initiates and implements programs to overcome them. MCEC''s goal is to level the educational playing field for military children wherever they are located around the world, and to model programs that are beneficial to all highly mobile children.

Therefore, we strive to address the daily burdens placed on these families, physically, financially, mentally, and socially. We strive to provide a large range of services and family events to meet the diverse needs of our military community
