The semester-long, university-accredited program provides the professional development, career exploration, and network that today’s veterans need to make the right career choices and to be ready for competitive careers. In partnership with Columbia University, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the Bob Woodruff Foundation, FourBlock has successfully equipped veterans all over the country to pursue the best careers that maximizes their full potential. Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA) is the voice of the 21st century veteran. It was founded in June 2004 as a non-profit, non-partisan organization with a mission to improve the lives of Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families. IAVA addresses the urgent issues facing the 2.2 million service members that have deployed since 2001 such as physical disabilities, mental health, suicide and unemployment by providing assistance, awareness and advocacy to serve those who have served.
Technology service corps builds brighter futures for underserved young adults and veterans through free technology and professional skills training. The program includes technical classes, mentoring from business leaders, internships and career development workshops at leading corporations and nonprofits, industry-recognized certifications as well as employment and alumni services. More than 80% of our alumni are employed or pursuing higher education within one year of graduation. In the new york (brooklyn & harlem) and north texas (dallas/fort worth) markets this program served 320 students during the year. In addition, the foundation work was completed for expansion to additional markets in 2015 - california (san francisco bay area) and canada (toronto).
