Atlanta VA Medical Center (VAMC), a Joint Commission and Magnet®-designated medical facility sits on 26 acres in Decatur, Georgia—just minutes from downtown Atlanta. With 466 inpatient beds, including a 120-bed Community Living Center, a 40-bed domiciliary, and a 21-bed Residential Treatment Program, the Atlanta VAMC is uniquely positioned to serve the healthcare needs of more than 130,000 enrolled Veterans living in 50 counties across northeast Georgia. The Medical Center, also a teaching hospital, provides hands-on and state-of-the-art technology, education and research to residents in collaboration with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine.

Co-located on the medical center campus are a VA Regional Office and a National Cemetery. This area is part of Tampa Bay, the second most populated metropolitan area in the state. The healthcare system operates nine facilities to include the main medical center in Bay Pines and outpatient clinics located in the Florida cities of Bradenton, Cape Coral, Naples, Palm Harbor, Port Charlotte, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, and Sebring. The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is a two-division Medical Center that provides tertiary  care inmedicine, surgery, neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation medicine, and spinal cord injury. The Downtown Division is authorized 156 beds (58 medicine, 27 surgery, and 71 spinal cord injury). The Uptown Division, located approximately three miles away, is authorized 93 beds (68 psychiatry, 15 blind rehabilitation  and 10 medical rehabilitation.  In addition, a 132-bed Restorative/Nursing Home Care Unit and  60 domiciliary are located at the Uptown Division.

The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center and Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon entered into a Joint Venture for Shared Services, which provides for the cost-effective sharing of resources between these two federal health care facilities in the Augusta metropolitan area. In 2004, two Active-Duty Rehab Care Units were opened to treat OEF/OIF active duty military personnel who required rehabilitation.

We provide accredited life coaching and peer support to veterans fighting through physical and mental obstacles such as; PTSD, Self-Medication, Anger Management, Isolation, Survivors Guilt and Problematic thinking. Vets wait months and in some instances years to receive health care; however, the need intensifies. FIX’D bridges that gap between need and care providing programs, peers, and a network of health care professionals volunteering to answer the call. Just as Veterans answered ours.
